Recruiting as a Marine West of the Mississippi While Living on the East Coast?

Is it possible to travel to the West side of the Mississippi River to recruit as a Marine in MCRD San Diego (A.K.A. a “Hollywood Marine”) rather than Parris Island
without actually living West of the Mississippi? (And yes I’m crazy enough to travel that far just to do that so don’t get smart)
To shorten it up: Recruit in the West, fly back to the East Coast, and then fly back to the West for Boot Camp. Possible?
