Can I use two 41 ohm 1/2 Watt resistors instead of an 82 ohm 1 Watt resistor.?

My application calls for a 1 Watt, 82 ohm resistor. I don’t have a 1 W resistor on hand. Is it possible to substitute a couple of resistors in that are of less wattage, such as two 41ohm 1/2 Watt resistors?

Simply; Yes.
Two 41 ohm resistors in series will total 82 ohms and each will dissipate half of the power so two 1/2 watt resistors together will stand 1 watt.

Do note that if the two resistors in series are of different resistances, such has hooking 60 ohm and 22 ohms in series, they will dissipate different amounts of power and if only rated at 1/2 watt each, the 60 ohm resistor would fry.

You could also put two or more resistors in parallel. Two 164 ohm resistors in parallel gives you 82 ohms as well.

Thinking about adding a new dimension to your model railroad? Perhaps you have already designed a spectacular setting, with different lighting effects and is looking for a new idea of incorporating? We have ideas that just might light the way when you are ready to take the next level.

Disposed or indirect Lights – These lights are what you have in your room to show his model railroad. These sources of light, sometimes called the track lighting, if the project whole model. One idea is the inclusion of strip lighting with adjustable head that let the light shine in any particular area. Consider to add a dimmer lighting from the ceiling of the room too. It's a great way to define the light – if you are working with small pieces Bachmann trains, the brightest light will reduce eye strain or if you are displaying his masterpiece, by dimming the lights, you can change the effect of their presentation.

Why am I not change the lighting? There are several reasons for the use of adjustable light sources:
• To recreate the dawn or sunset scenes – consider using low-wattage bulbs pink or blue. Can be found in hobby stores or hardware stores. Alternatively, electroluminescent wire Lighting can be used with the same effect. This is ideal for placement behind a landscape with low-rise because the cable is easily hidden out of sight.
• For light fences, lampposts and even railroad crossing lights
• small vehicle headlights

It's all about creativity. You're limited only by your imagination. Few things allow us to "write our own rules," but when it comes to designing and Bachmann trains any model railroad, you as the owner, are allowed total creative freedom. Note also that nothing is permanent. If a method does not create the desired effect, is easily changed or moved around. Too often, we have tunnel vision and forget the countless other ways to recreate a scene or a design for the design of our model railroad.

Lighting that varies with the speed of your Train – Sometimes you can see the light of his locomotive varies speed of their movement. When you have this, consider incorporating diodes or resistors to ensure that light is coherent. Although many find a way to insert batteries, keep in mind that can be bulky and difficult to try to fit in the space allotted. Remember to wear safety glasses and use caution when working with electricity. And finally, do not forget to use your creativity.
