how do i fix my uniden 2way radio?
all i hear out of it is static. No one is talking on it!
On my schedule, I run into this thing all the time. I don’t get home on work nights until after midnight, so when I turn on my ham transceiver, particularly the VHF and UHF rig, and set it to scan, all I get is static. I sometimes think its the antenna or the radio, but then I remember that most people are already home, watching TV or in bed by then, so static is all there is.
The HF radio may have something on it, sometimes from as far away as Italy or Spain, but the regular ordinary conversations that go on when guys are driving home from work, are no where to be found.
Find someone else with a radio, that is on the same channel as you, and test it from varying distances, and see what you can hear. It will give you an idea of range, and help you get reacquainted with the squelch on your radio, so you can set it to eliminate the static, and only squawk when there’s someone talking.
Then if there is still a problem, come back and give us some more details, like what you may have tried to correct it, the model number, if we are going to need to track down a service manual (if we can find one online) or refer you to the company.

Cordless phones: the new revolution between phones
A cordless or cellular phone is a phone with a radio that communicates through a base station that is connected to a fixed telephone line that can be operated near its base station. A cordless phone requires electricity to power the main base station. A cordless phone can be powered with a battery that is recharged by the base station.
It usually takes twelve to twenty four hours to get the phone charged. Modern wireless phone standards such as PHS and DECT have mixed line Cutting once clear line between cordless and mobile phones, supporting the delivery of cells with various advanced features such as data transfer and even on a limited scale, international roaming. In these models, the base stations are maintained by a commercial operator and mobile network users to subscribe to this service.
George Sweigert, an amateur radio operator and inventor from Ohio is considered the father of the cordless phone. Sweigert, a radio operator in the Second World War II stationed in the South Pacific islands developed the concept of full duplex for untrained staff to improve battlefield communications for senior commanders, which was the beginning of a revolution in the field of telecommunications.
Wireless phones became a part communication component in the early 1980s with a large number of manufacturers entering the market.
It ended the monopoly Bell System around 1984 that led to the commercial viability of wireless phones. After the break, users buy their own phones, usually the most Cheap. In the 1980s, new companies entered the wireless phone – ie the market V-Tech, Uniden, Philips and Panasonic.
Most manufacturers of wireless phones, do not specify the chemical nature of batteries, but V-Tech has admitted to using NiMH batteries in equipment and has offered batteries.
