The Internet has changed the face of communication in a very big way. It has changed the way people communicate with each other or exchange stuffs. The biggest phenomenon in this regard is definitely the Internet based email service which is used by billions around the globe everyday to send mails to every imaginable corner of the civilized world. Internet relay chat and Instant Messengers are another two major means of communication in this Digital Era. And following closely behind is the relatively new innovation – Internet telephony which is fast making the age-old telephone service obsolete in many parts of the world.
Internet telephony has unleashed a whole new world of communication. Making international phone calls just got cheaper, a lot cheaper – thanks to Internet telephony. All you need is a stable Internet connectivity and a pair of headphones with a microphone. And you are ready to reach out to your friends located halfway around the world in a matter of seconds. An international trunk call can do the trick, no doubt. But the cost involved would also be substantial. Internet telephony in comparison is far cheaper. It also lets you share files stored on your pc, record conversations and do a host of other things while talking to your friends on the Internet.
When one talks about Internet telephony these days, the name that springs to mind first is that of Skype. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Skype has single-handedly popularized Internet telephony like few other services. From personal use to wide scale corporate usage (as in telecalling services and the BPO industry) – Skype is virtually everywhere. Everyone is talking on Skype and saving millions of dollars they would have otherwise spent on conventional long distance calls.
Of late, many new services have been made available to the Skype user community to facilitate Internet telephony even more and to add to the overall convenience and the experience. Of these, the automatic desktop dialer deserves special mention. Let’s take a closer look.
The automatic desktop dialer, as the name itself suggests, is an application that lets one automate the manual dialing procedure and manage calls in a more efficient manner. An automatic desktop dialer such as Phipe® (created by PhiStream) not only automates the dialing procedure, but also offers a host of other facilities such as inserting comments on a call into the database of contacts (for corporate users), creating customized call dispositions, viewing information about the contact one is calling, automatically detecting the common file delimiters, create DNC (“Do Not Callâ€) lists, scheduling calls within a session and more.
These are what make Phipe a gem of a desktop application. Thanks to this brilliant automatic desktop dialer, with just a few clicks, a caller can now select a set of phone numbers from either a CRM that exposes its API or upload the same via a CSV file and dial them automatically. Firms and organizations that need to make thousands of calls everyday using Skype, can benefit immensely from such an automatic desktop dialer.
Anybody serious about taking his telecalling business to the next level should consider installing an automatic desktop dialer. It is amazing how much time one would be able to save with one.

The Co VoIP SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) trunk is a service that allows businesses with a Hosted PBX or a PBX installed to use real-time communications, including VoIP. By connecting a SIP trunk to a traditional interior PSTN (public switched telephone network), phone system, companies can communicate over IP outside the company. Moreover, enterprises can replace traditional fixed PSTN lines with a system IP phone connected externally via a SIP trunking service, creating a single conduit for multimedia components including voice, video and data. As a result, SIP trunking service typically offers greater cost savings and greater reliability of business solutions VoIP.
How SIP Trunking Works
SIP trunking connections for both mixtures of data and voice a single line. By serving as a converter between a phone system and Internet access the legacy of a company, a SIP trunking device allows the network to carry data voice traffic. SIP trunking features typically include local and long distance calling, E911, directory listing and caller ID, all of which are integrated into the existing telephone system of the company.
Here is a hypothetical example of how the SIP trunking: A San Francisco-based sales representative places a long distance call to a customer based in New York with a dial prefix and the area local phone number. The call originates as an IP call or becomes one before leaving the office and then travels to most of the way IP network service provider, then falls back down to the PSTN once it reaches its completion point. Since a significant portion of the call travels over the IP network at no additional cost instead of the PSTN, the service provider can (not) charge a mere fraction of what traditional rate would be without the IP connection.
SIP trunking has three main components. These include:
IP PBX: An IP-based PBX communicates with all the points on an IP network. It also changes the calls between VoIP users on local lines while allowing all users share a number of external phone lines. The typical IP PBX, also can switch calls between a VoIP user and a telephone user traditional, or between two traditional telephone users in the same way that a conventional PBX.
The Voip Co is an ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider): The role of an ITSP is to secure the connection to the PSTN from an IP network for mobile communications devices and fixed. IP Communications also carries on a private IP network or the Internet.
Element Boundaries: The border element facilitates connectivity between the corporate network an IP address, the PSTN and an external IP transport network. The border element may be a SIP-capable firewall or a SIP-edge enabling device connected to the firewall, or it may be a switch to transfer calls to and from the PSTN. Border elements are usually managed by the service provider.
Note that a service provider typically include SIP trunking as an element of an IP packet, telephone system, as only separate in hybrid solutions, where there is a need to keep some places in a traditional TDM (multiplexing time division), which will connect to the IP infrastructure in general through various elements of border and a SIP trunking service.
Benefits
SIP trunking service companies benefit by:
• Eliminating the need to invest in expensive (and less capable) TDM-infrastructure equipment gateway or desktop computers
• the need to cancel the purchase of equipment, such as Media Gateway managed devices, the interface between IP and PSTN voice
• Reduced monthly expenses, as only a voice and data connection is needed
• Eliminating the need for PRI (interface Primary Rate) / BRI (basic rate interface) connections, reduce telephony costs
• Allow companies to outsource their PSTN connectivity to a third, reducing long distance charges
• Provide points of presence in several U.S. cities so that enterprises can establish a number local rather than rely on a 1-800 number
• Access to the benefits of a hosted VoIP service, without discarding existing investments in telephony system traditional
Costs
Although SIP trunking service providers offer more choices to a variable cost, it is not uncommon for companies to realize instant cost savings of a relatively modest investment in technology based on SIP. Indeed, SIP requires the purchase of services and products including an IP PBX, IP phones, soft clients and SIP-friendly firewall, to name a few out of pocket expenses. But if implemented properly, the pipe can cause VoIP SIP Co a healthy return on investment in less than six months.
