Removing two trunks of a triple trunk tree?
I have a triple trunk sycamore tree, two of the trunks are looming over my house. Due to high winds I am thinking of removing the two trunks over my house. Is this healthy for the tree, will it cause more damage and should I just remove the entire tree.
Rule of thumb: DO NOR REMOVE MORE THAN 1/3 PER YEAR. Of course, ya really can’t hurt a Buttonwood tree…

Tropical palm trees are not usually think that cold-resistant characteristics sufficient to survive in non-tropical areas where temperatures often drop to below freezing depths. The windmill palm, Trachycarpus fortunei, can survive the cold, due to two characteristics: slow growth and a brownish-black burlap-like hair that insulates the tree from the ravages of winter.
The palm mill wind, Trachycarpus fortunei, has been reported to grow to 20 feet high in the United States, but the windmill palm is a tree native to here and only a brief history of growth in the United States, having been imported into the Florida of Europe. Many palm trees windmill in Europe is growing as tall as 40 feet. In Optimally, the windmill palm tree can grow a foot per year, and the trunk is tall and thin and up to twelve inches in diameter and the base is less in diameter than the top, as is the case with many other species of palm trees. The width of the windmill palm canopy is approximately 15 feet and leaves are fan-shaped and can grow 3 feet long.
The black-brown burlap-like hair that covers the trunk of the windmill palm is dense, so dense and interconnected covers the trunk of the windmill palm tree turns gray. In Europe, a tourist can find very old, tall palm trees windmill in the hair covering the body has eroded, exposing a gray patch of the bark of the trunk with a real look. The fan-shaped leaves are covered with a thick layer of green wax on the surface and edges the leaves are covered with sharp teeth.
Windmill palms are in high demand as a tropical tree in search of the pool or planting landscape near patios and entrances of the door. Some gardeners prefer to plant a palm tree windmill as a shade tree or as an accent specimen tree. Although most palm trees windmill samples are grown as single trunk, double windmill trees or palm trunk samples triple trunk can be ordered from nurseries Mailorder.
Windmill palms can be grown in containers, but it seems ridiculous to grow a cold hardy tree in a container, whether to tolerate the cold when planted in any location outside the United States. The windmill palms can be grown in containers when they are small, but often in an office situation, the windmill palm is inappropriate, and touching the teeth of the leaves can be an unpleasant experience.
