Walkie talkies are now common in many industries, from security to maintenance. The history of this device can be traced in the military field although the first portable radios have been developed in Australia by the relevant law enforcement. Ultimately walkie talkies are a way for workers phones to communicate in real time, enabling greater operational capacity.
The variety of handheld radio was developed mainly during the Second World War, its invention dates back to Canada. They were created for the military personnel would be able to plan the strategy on the battlefield, reacting to events and finding ways to approach problems.
Motorola has been at the forefront of the development of walkie talkies for more than half a century. The first device was the Motorola SCR-300, launched in 1940. This inaugural device however was not nearly as portable as the modern variants, which require the user to carry a backpack that contained all the circuits and wiring. However, it is strange that this device is certainly a walkie talkie, which he described as the troops during war.
The first models instead of hand is called "walkie-talkies' by troops but this name fell into disuse in the year after the war. During these early variants of the handheld is limited operational, it has no power to communicate through a wide range, hence the predominance of the backpack model.
The postwar years saw the rapid development of walkie talkies allies both nations and their Soviet counterparts. Even after extensive development of the device still had major flaws. The power still was not big enough for long distance communication that variants of the backpack still prevalent in military circles.
Even these larger models, however, requires a sensor system repeater to be erected in order to achieve an effective strategic communication. A major disadvantage of this was that if the enemy were able to knock down a tower of repetition, communication in the vicinity, would be lost. This kind of tactic was widely used by guerrilla fighters who realized that the lack of communication mean the disruption of enemy troops.
Walkie talkies today are still widely used by the military, although the technology has been considerably improved with the biggest improvements have been in scope and size, although the development of headphones and mouthpieces also been important. Not just the military, however, that the using the device, any industry that needs real-time communication using walkie talkies, industries include emergency personnel, security forces and even the bar staff.
Changes have meant more robust varieties are available, which means that the modern device can be waterproof and resistant extreme temperature environments and high resistance. Development also has occurred in the encryption technology via radio waves, this development in particular, has been useful for the agencies enforcement wishing for confidential messages.
While some walkie talkies were developed for its military use today goes far beyond the original mandate. Not only are used by companies around the world, but are also available as recreational devices and toys for children.
Addressing the communication needs of many industries is not easy, however, a role that the walkie talkie is capable of doing. Walkie talkies help protect our society through their use by police forces worldwide, while also saving our lives when used by emergency personnel. It is in the army, where however the importance of the device is secured, has been an integral part of the promotion the tactics of modern warfare, without which the world is simply not the same.
