you can probably rent one at long and macquade for pretty cheap. Last time I checked about 5 years ago the price was 25 bucks a month.

You can buy a cheap drum kit off craigslist for about 100 – 200 bucks… but you have to keep looking in the classifieds.

A brand new standard kit from a store like just drums or long and macquade goes for about 400 bucks

Why don’t you rent a really crappy kit, then rent high end kit so you can see the difference. Then figure out what you want to spend and what you can afford realistically on a drum kit. Remember you get what you pay for in woods, skins, cymbals and stands!
