A chicken coop is a structure you use to house your chickens. It is sometimes called a chicken shack. Fist time chicken growers might think that they can substitute a bird cage for a chicken coop. Unfortunately, this cannot be the case. Chickens have needs different from other birds like parrots or parakeets. You need not shortchange your chickens by using readily available bird cages because chicken shacks are easy to make anyway. You can build coops using available chicken coop plans or you can also make your own.

What are the important things that you should consider in creating chicken shack layouts?

The size of the coop is the first thing that should be considered. The coop should have enough space for each chicken to be able to freely move around without bumping into another. Normally each chicken should have about 2 – 3 square feet of space.

The next important aspect that you have to consider in making chicken coop plans is the protection it gives against extreme weather conditions. Chickens are easily affected by drafts. The chicken coop should have ample protection against this like having covers on the walls. The cover should be something that can be rolled down whenever there is strong wind or rolled up when the air is hot or humid.

Then you should also consider protection against predators. The walls should be strong enough to ward them off. There shouldn’t be any access for any predator to get in.

Provisions for cleaning the coop should also be considered. There should have enough windows and doors where you can take the chickens out or put them back in. There should be accesses for removing wastes or for replenishing food.

Chicken coop plans should be well thought of. Well planned coops will be good for the health of your chickens and will also make things easier for you.

I did not think it would be so easy. It was a silly idea between my best friend and I, which proliferated into something else. Let's take a trip. Get lost in Mexico. And we laughed like school girls as we had planned to sunbathe on beaches ourselves, taking into pina coladas, and casual (no!) Bloody Mary.

Then, miraculously, both in our work schedules cleared. We had three days off to take our vacation improvised a reality! You not believe the emotion that swept us as we began to prepare our trip. Since we have heard nothing but good things about Baja California, we decided unexpected spend our holidays in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.

So we trust Diane Beetle, loaded with our things and took during one hour drive to paradise. Needless to say we were as excited as two college students out on summer vacation.

As soon as we Rosarito, immediately looked around for a hotel to stay in. We went through the city for a while, then found it. It looked like a beacon in the desert. It was a few feet of the beach and full of life. Diane and I turned to each other and smiled. This was – The Festival Plaza Hotel. This was the perfect place to relax after our adventures on the beach. We immediately got a room at the hotel. Fortunately, it was off-season, so I had a hard time getting rooms. We happy we chose this particular hotel. From outside we could see that was located near commercial establishments. The bars and restaurants located nearby were relatives of all the stories we've heard from colleagues and other friends. We made a mental note to try more authentic Mexican tacos at the Rock and Roll Taco, which appeared to be a fun place to hang out in. In fact, we could hear Mexican music blaring live from the restaurant to go through the windows of the beetle lowered.

The smell of the sea was exhilarating. I could not wait for a dip in the pristine waters. From our balcony (room with ocean view naturally), you could see the bright sea and pristine beaches. He immediately put our bikinis and went to the beach.

The beach was beautiful. There few people that dot the banks that fine Friday morning. We spread our towels, slathered on some sunscreen and proceeded to take the perfect Mexican sun.

After about half an hour of tanning, Diane and I decided we needed a drink. So he went to the nearest bar and ordered drinks, as did the vast seas. A little Mexican boy approached us and showed us a crude sign written on a piece of cardboard: Surf Lessons, ask for Leroy. Diane looked at me with a twinkle in his eyes, and told the boy in his halting Spanish where to find Luisito. The boy eagerly nodded his head and ran to a small hut a few meters of the bar. He ran inside and a few seconds later a man emerged from the hut. Fortunately, he was fluent in English. Diane arranged for us to have lessons surf and jumped on it immediately.

If there was one word that describes the lessons, which should be: exhausting. I cleaned more times than I could remember, and rowing on the open sea on my surfboard was very tiring for the arms. But I had the greatest time ever. The waves were just right. The weather was good, and the company was perfect as she took lessons with a group, and presented a few other locals and tourists.

After that, our surfing "class" met the party of the night. We went from one bar to another and tried out the incredible Mexican cuisine. Needless to say, the calories you burn while learning to surf was replenished with our food and alcohol orgies every night.

Diane is more fun and I have had in a long time. By the time they were heading back to California, we feel our vacation in Rosarito would end. But we were happy. We're glad we did this holiday impulsive happen, because they are in heaven three days worth experimenting again and again.
