Hooking up frequency scanner antenna in car?

When installing a frequency scanner in a car, can I use a Y antenna adapter so I can use the stock radio antenna or would that cause interference? I would only be using one at a time (either the scanner or radio). I just don’t want 2 antennas if i don’t have to. Thanks.

yes you can use a Y adapter splitter on a scanner. as long as your not transmitting, it’ll be fine. I used a splitter for years in my truck.
