Radio Battery

how long can i leave the radio on in my mazda 3 before the battery dies?
i want to findout what the average time is for a new car to lose it’s charge with the radio running off the battery only.
Well since todays radios are transisters and pull verry little power, about say 3 days.
But here is something you are not thinking of. In order to play the radio you will have to put the key into ACC. when you do it turns on the key switch and draws power.
If there is nothing else on in order to kill the battery complete< not just low volum about 7 days.

Condition the battery When you purchase your Dell Inspiron notebook batteries, Dell battery charging 100 percent, fully discharged, and then load completely 100 percent more to help the Dell laptop battery recall exactly how much electrical charge can hold. Thereafter, no will have to completely discharge the battery again, but whenever sure that when you let it load to 100 percent. DeHoop told us to "remember to connect AC adapter (or dock / port replicator) whenever you get the chance. Most notebooks will recharge quickly. "Salinas had another suggestion for the batteries: "keep it fresh. Exposure to high temperatures may be the worst enemy of a battery," he said.
Decreased drive drive activity to minimize the frequency with which the hard disk has to spin to access data, Salinas recommended defragmenting your hard drive regularly. This optimizes the placement data on the drive so it can be found more quickly. You can find the disk Degfragmenter Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools menu. Beyond that, he advised the Windows paging optimization "file, a hard disk area that serves as virtual memory when memory RAM is full. To change this, go to Control Panel and click through System / Advanced / Performance Settings / Advanced / Virtual memory change and set both the initial and maximum size of the paging file to 1.5 times the capacity of installed memory.
Disable startup items loading items Starting in the memory of all time Windows boots, which causes other open applications to extend the virtual memory and adds to the burden of the CPU. You can disable startup options by opening the associated programs and going to the Options or Preferences menu. You can also remove them from the Start / Programs / Startup folder or by clicking Start / Run, entering C: \ MSCONFIG and click OK. Select the Startup tab and uncheck the box next to the substance unnecessary like qttask (QuickTime).
Do not use any external devices. USB and PC cards (also known as PC-MCIA) use your battery to function, even when you are not using them! Have an EVDO card or maybe a USB mouse? Remove them if possible. Even a memory card reader on your PC-MCIA slot uses power only for being there. The effect varies by type of device, but even a few minutes here and there (as we shall see) add up significantly.
Turn the screen "You often can produce up to ten minutes of battery life at low brightness level," Salinas said. DeHoop added that reducing the brightness " can give as much as an extra hour of runtime. "In addition, the reduction of screen resolution and color depth decreases the workload the GPU, thus extending the battery life. You can change these by going to Start / Settings / Control Panel / Display and clicking the Settings tab. Deactivation of extra features like ClearType fonts and fade effects will reduce the energy consumption of the CPU. You can find these in the control panel System / Advanced / Performance Settings / Visual Effects.
Individual task, not multi-task. The more we are doing at the same time with your PC, more memory and increases the CPU usage. Both of which directly drain the battery. Close all applications that are not using, even the smallest. By doing a little experimentation, I found it more efficient to run a single application at a time, then close and open it again when you are ready to move on. While your hard disk uses the battery too, if you are doing something "productive" is probably hitting the unit regularly (even if infrequent) basis anyway.
Turn off appliances Both of our gurus mentioned disabling the devices used. Many new notebooks provide a hard-wired On / Off switch for the Wi-Fi radio for this reason. Beyond that, you should go to Panel control, select System / Hardware / Device Manager and disable the Ethernet adapter, infrared transceiver, Bluetooth radio (if your laptop has one). It was designed for mobile devices, but Bluetooth actually consumes a little power.
Keep it cool. You can take a page from manual the extreme gamer, and that their system work more optimally, keeping it cool. Make sure your air vents (input and output) are not blocked by anything, which is often caused by bad positioning of your laptop in your lap (which is known to have some other side effects too, by the way). Heavy CPU usage and memory all contribute to heat and hence my comment earlier on multi-tasking.
