The ingredients for a successful start K-9 program with a limited budget requires the ability for everyone, including the Department and the Community, to see the benefits potential. A certain level of support from management, members and the community is needed in conjunction with a driver, the coach and program that meets the criteria needed to begin.

Management support is the ability to see the benefits of having and maintaining a program. Often they attend a full-time program the cost of the replacement of this officer, while he or she is absent can leave everything in its tracks financially. When I did my training I was fortunate to find a local instructor who allowed me to train as I worked my regular shift to save the department thousands of dollars. All compensated later once the program started and service calls. The administration must also maintain the policy that provides a level of continuing education requirements, including annual certifications, adequate record keeping and monitoring to ensure a successful long-term program. After losing my first police dogs went to the elementary school to help local name of my new K-9 partners. The children really were present and helped make the community feel invested. The community are stakeholders. Dogs can help create a bridge between the police and the community, children love dogs. Often I would take my K-9 partner schools as part of our program drug awareness. I want to use the schools as an opportunity to train. Many departments use their K-9 program as an opportunity to improve relations community through schools, local events and competitions including fellow drivers.

All types of organizations are willing to pay support, as I discovered, if asked. The community wants to feel part of and enjoy in their local police service. It enables organizations, groups and individuals. Knowing who have contributed in some way for the police K-9 to help find the elderly person away or get drugs on the streets provides a level of empowerment. A driver with good sense, common sense, and an almost fanatical drive to succeed. A team player. Must be the officer who wants the position for the right reasons. An immature, self centered controller can quickly sink a program, in isolation from other members and establishing himself and the Department for a bad situation and potential demand. Proper use of the K-9 team must comply with relevant laws concerning the use of K-9 team, while at the same time reduce at least the potential liability issues. A good coach should also be entrusted to the success of the K-9 team to see and correct potential problems before they become liabilities.

The departments and neighboring communities often seek to share this K-9 resources. Time is often the enemy of his K-9 team a chance of a successful outcome decreases with every moment lost. Other people, traffic and environmental factors can affect timing of the teams to success. Depending on the program can be difficult, or impossible, for the Department to start their own K-9 team. No good purpose to the official concerned to see the potential without the support of other stakeholders. A level of commitment and support of all is needed for a successful K-9 team and program to thrive. Management needs to see the benefit of having your own team, ready at a moments notice. Oftens success depends on the time and proximity.

However, community management and the stakeholders, working towards a common goal that is possible for a small apartment to start their own K-9 program, which benefit from the enormous profitability with only a limited budget.
