I bought a house with a pre-fab fireplace (metal fire box/chimney) on which a flat tv is mounted? is it safe?

Is it a fire hazzard to use the fire place? I’m told that an electrician installed the power box above the fireplace. If the wires are hitting the metal box/chimney can the tv be damaged? The tv is a LCD if that matters. The fireplace is dry wall surrounding the fire box

Sounds like it could be a hazard, especially since the TV probably has a plastic exterior. Unless the fireplace is insulated, you could risk melting your TV or its wiring. Maybe you should install something between the TV and the fireplace, something heavily insulating that will prevent some of the heat from the fireplace.
