How do I mount an art project?
I have to do an art project and i have an A4 book I need to stick all my work into. It needs to look interesting and needs to be A* quality work. I have tried cutting windows, painting then gluing, mounting different coloured card on top of each other then the work on the top and flps to extend the pages. Does anyone have any tips or interesting ways that work can be mounted? Many thanks, T
Think of the whole book as one related theme and repeat elements from one page to another, rather than doing something absolutely different on each page. Variety is a good thing but too much variety will make your book disjointed.
One way of using repetition without boredom is to repeat the same colors in different combinations. Another way is to use a motif, such as edge outlines, and vary the thickness of the outlines. Another way would be to use more flaps, but make them miniature- have a small foldout of a very detailed image so that the viewer will look inside for their information.
Another method would be to use one of your previous images but copy and enlarge the image and use it as the frame of your next image. Enlarge it so much that it becomes an abstract pattern.
Use text as pattern- enlarge some of the words so that the letters operate as shapes. So take a heading or theme from one page and repeat a word only use part of it.
Use tactile framing, such as corrugated cardboard.
Cut an image into squares and reassemble the squares on a grid. Take out some squares and replace them with colored paper.
If you have a special page, slip a piece of vellum or tissue over the page so that it is protected from getting messed up. Use this technique for pastes or graphite drawing.
use a variety of ways of numbering your pages, for example by cutting numbers out of a magazine, in different fonts.

From the first time that a foot on the beach in St Louis teaching volunteer Danielle Paffard wondered what could be done to help clean up the garbage that goes bad an idyllic place otherwise. Having decided to extend for one month placement at the end of January, set out to find a way to organize the big cleaning.
At first everything seemed simple – probably much of talibés St Louis – street children would be happy to help in exchange for a free day of begging, a little food, and the chance to play on the beach. However, Morabito were not so sure. So with the help of Issa (one of the overseas project staff in Senegal), Danni toured all local marabouts to explain the plan and ask you to leave your talibés participate. Together, they managed to put across a compelling presentation, and one marabouts one agreed to cooperate. The donations of volunteers, projects abroad and friends at home had begun to mount and decided to pay each one Marabout small amount as a gesture of goodwill.
With about a hundred talibés now able to come to the beach, the problem was how to get from Talibe Center in Sor in the mainland to Hydrobar, about four miles from the peninsula. Danni persuasion skills means that after a meeting at the headquarters of the town, was found by two army trucks and ten men for the day! The City Council had already agreed to provide a tractor, garbage bags and trash pick up sticks, and suggested that when he had made the beach that might begin in the rest of the city …
In 9 of the early Sunday morning the trucks that had transported more than 100 talibés Hydrobar beach and stuck in the garbage collection – though many of them seemed too distracted by having a free day at the beach to do the job too. Fortunately, the volunteers also gets up early and in a state of more industrious spirit and soon fill their pockets … Following the announcements on local radio and in schools of St. Louis, several pairs of hands appeared more ready for all morning, and some curious onlookers.
Meanwhile, projects overseas office of the mission was under way for sandwiches and enough juice to feed hungry workers to 150. Three different bread bakeries were relieved and all came to close early for the day when we met up breads enough.
