How come when I download a house on Sims 2 PC it doesn’t show up in the lots & houses bin?

I downloaded a house from Mod the Sims 2 and I extracted it and put it in my downloads folder but when I loaded the game it wasn’t in the bin. Why? What do I need to do? Please help and thanks so much!
