The microwave oven is one of the most brilliant inventions of the human race. Not only is it used for heating food can also be used for cooking, baking, thawing and even boiling water. No household appliance is more versatile than this little dynamo.

But who invented this great product?

Like many products in history, the microwave is also a product of past technologies. In 1946, Dr. Percy Spencer, an engineer Raytheon Corporation, led a research project on radar. This was the first time that foods are cooked with microwave technology.

Food engineers began working on the idea of microwave and further refined. In 1946, the Raytheon Company filed a patent proposing the use of microwaves to cook food. A long, similar to what Dr. Spencer created, only refined it placed in a Boston restaurant for the test. It proved a success.

So in 1947, the microwave oven was introduced commercially. The first units were large, about six feet tall and weighs 750 pounds. They were extremely expensive, costing $ 5000 each, but well, with great technology, what is a few thousands.
