How much is a 1980 american fender jazz bass in very good condition worth?

serial number starts with S8 and is 6 digits long so I know it is 79-81. It has mother of pearl inlays, all the guards and two pick ups. It is missing one volume knob and there are small surface cracks in the finish.

The volume knob can easily be replaces, so the only thing holding its value back is that crack. But dude, its vintage so it automatically gets atleast one 0 added to the end of the price, and its a jazz bass, which are already expensive to purchase. So a vintage jazz bass…well Im no expert but Im assuming its in the 1000 – 1500 range

The line of the new Epiphone Prophecy Collection features four distinct forms that share common characteristics and unique. Besides the guitar style, the model is either an Epiphone Prophecy EX (Gibson USA) or Epiphone Prophecy FX (Original Floyd Rose). Common features are quite figured quilted maple tops, 24 Speed fret Taper satin necks, jumbo frets (neck anatomy of locks), blade inlays, Epiphone new strap, hand colored and eye color burst Pearl knobs. That's because each one is custom. All Prophecy Guitars have bound bodies and necks. A lot of research, design and testing entered this beautiful guitar during the two to three years of what is both very affordable and playable, as you will not believe.

For an Epiphone made in China, I was very impressed. The draft is really well done and the tunes sounded great. Finish and pitch did not look real ugly. The action was not yet fully decomposed, and even established professionally. More pleasant were the 2 EMG-equipped compared with dirty fingers of the LP from the pills to be slightly Woofy DF.

On the negative side, if you're not a player of Gibson, if not used for LP or SG, which may feel weird to you. Certainly found the slightly neck heavy SG and LP's in a single cut uncomfortable. The weight of this guitar is compatible with most Gibson SG and Les Paul guitar. They are heavy. And that's a beef to least for me.

The dye used frets is also the largest and with the game long enough, a small amount of finish from the neck has been reported to rub with excessive gambling. That would be a problem for me since I am one of the practitioners marathon.

As for value for money, and I must say, by prices ranging between U.S. $ 550-700. It is realistic to say that the market is flooded with excellent guitars in this price range. My experiences with the guitars in this price range is at least to me that this is a decent guitar and well worth more than it costs. It feels and plays like a Gibson or Epiphone guitar case. If the environment is for this line of guitar, I assure you, you will immediately see why I say for the price that beats most of the guitars of several hundred dollars, or more money.
