What is the difference between an ethernet cable and a telephone cable/jack?

I am using a router to connect two computers to one internet connection using an ethernet connector. But I only got one ethernet cable and I need two. Can I used the telephone jack/cable connector?

A telephone cable only uses the two center connections of the connector (one pair of wires). The ethernet cable uses four wires. (two pair) one pair for sending data, one pair for receiving data. The CAT 5 protocol requires all 8 wires to be connected to the connector in order for it to be Category 5.

Although the connectors may look similar, they are no means alike at all!
