There are many types of welding that are available to learn today and MIG is one of those guys. This type of welding dates back to 1940 when it was discovered that the soldering aluminum and other nonferrous metals.

Many people refer to the weld GMAW or MIG welding and gas metal arc. Often, these two terms are used interchangeably. This type of welding is considered automatic or semi-automatic because it happens quickly. The process works to join two pieces of metal by the continuous passage of a cable through a welding gun. The cable is connected to a direct current then passes through the gun with an inert gas such as argon.

The wire acts as an electrode and inert gas acts as a shield as welding is done. This means that the air is polluted by being put in place in the weld zone.

A MIG welder is used this method to merge metal faster than the regular stick welding especially when they want to weld soft metals like aluminum. When this method is started the inert gas was too expensive to make the process all the time. Today, carbon dioxide can be used in place of more expensive gas and makes this method more profitable.

Advantages of MIG Welding

There are several advantages of MIG "> MIG welding:

* It is faster than traditional methods of welding and producing more, continuous welds.
* Produces a cleaner weld with less spatter.
* Can be used with a wide variety of alloys and metals that make it a more versatile process.

Disadvantages of MIG welding:

Although this is a very specialized process that works efficiently for many projects there are some drawbacks including:

* The welding equipment is complex and cumbersome to use.
* The team needs a power supply current and a constant of the wire through the gun.
* It is a process very different from the traditional welding which is a learning curve for all welders who use this technique.
* Because the inert gas MIG welding can not use an open area because the wind could cause the gas to cause more problems for the machine MIG welding.

MIG welding has become very important in many industries due to its ability to quickly soldering. You see this type of welding done in many industries including automotive and nuclear industries.
