St. Vincent and the Grenadines Charter

Only 8 of the Grenadines are populated and the remaining are bird sanctuaries and very popular for hiking and diving. All are of volcanic origin and very ornate with inlets where the sea is washed in white sandy beaches. St. Vincent is lush mountains. Carib Indians aggressively prevented European settlement on St. Vincent until the 18th century. Portuguese came from the Atlantic island Madeira and lots of East Indian laborers arrived between 1861-1880. The conditions remained harsh for both former slaves and immigrant agricultural workers, as prices remained depressed world sugar economy stagnant until the turn of the century.

St. Vincent was granted associate statehood status in October 1969 27, giving total control over their internal affairs. It has calm clear waters and a beautiful beach of golden sand. The beach has no road access and as a consequence is virtually deserted. Mayreau lies west of the Tobago Cays and is perfect for those seeking privacy and a romantic hideaway in the Caribbean. There are hiking trails that take you to some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Grenadines.

Salt Whistle Bay is one of the anchors of the finest yachts in the Caribbean and only accessible by boat. Sweeping white sand beaches rim the island and are ideal for diving and sailing. Petit St. Vincent is about 5 nautical miles of the Union. This 113-acre resort on an island is privately owned and offers private cabins, accommodations and a wide range of activities and marine sports. It is almost completely surrounded by white sand beaches and has excellent anchorages for yachts. A stroll along the slope is a bar where the atmosphere is extraordinary. Hummingbirds fly through tropical vegetation and the best tropical fresh frozen fruit daiquiris in the Grenadines are served here.

Since the anchorage is Mopion can swim directly to the sandbar, but come to a reef. Follow the reef round until reaching a wide opening. You can swim or boat across, to up on the sandbank.
