Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri, has been touring the state boasting of the amendment presented to the law of stimulus, a modification that creates about 3,000 new jobs in Missouri and saves more than 700 housing units, according to Ali Frick, thinkprogress.org. (1) What has not been bragging is the fact that after the amendment was approved unanimously voted against the project. Yes, Senator Bond is taking credit for their state benefits which occurred despite his opposition.

Two Republican governors strongly opposed the stimulus are Rick Perry of Texas and Mark Sanford of South Carolina, who co-wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal in early December for cleaning the stimulus. (2) (Texas, of course, has lost over 221,000 jobs since October, according to Phillip Martin Burntorangereport.com. Perry was willing to deny status of 269,000 jobs is estimated that the stimulus to create in that state.) (3)

Democratic strategist Paul Begala made a number of recommendations (4) – specifically to Sanford, but applicable to any governors who opposed the package: If you really think the stimulus package is wrong – and, indeed, harmful – do not take the money. Show some integrity.

A. I think these accusations are absurd. These are some of the finest people I know.

P. So how explain their inconsistent behavior after the passage of this stimulus bill, which so vehemently opposed?
