Frequency Counter

when i test an LC circuit with a wireless frequency counter should i only get one stable frequency?
when i put my frequency counter near the coil it gives me reading from 400 Mhz when its close to it and as i get about 20 cm away it says over 600 Mhz it cant be other signals as when i get 30 cm away its says 0.0000 Mhz on the display plus i have the filter turned on so any ideas or any help(advice) would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Difficult to tell without seeing a schematic of the setup but it sounds like the probe is loading the LC circuit when it gets close hence the lower frequency when you get closer. Your hand can make a difference at those sort of frequencies too.

Monitoring real-time particle requires placing a single laser particle counter or particle sensor at a designated location in the cleanroom. The sensor particle counter particle counts and monitors events in the specified location in the cleanroom. The particles are monitored in particle form per cubic meter or per cubic meter. There are gaps in the particle count data, which makes the system very efficient in real time at critical locations to properly monitor sensitive processes.
Monitoring real-time particle offers a choice between using a remote particle counter or a particle counter independent with a laser built into the vacuum pump. The remote particle counter offers a vacuum sampling process or a pump dedicated to particle counting can be used.
Sequential particle monitoring system is also known as admission control and a pneumatically Multiplexed Particle Counting. In this system, a single handheld laser particle counter is used to monitor multiple location points. To accomplish this, a multiple sequential sampler must be added to connect the particle counter sampling tubes different. These individual tubes are shown in sequential order.
The particle counter stops counting until the turn of the tube is complete and allows air from the previous sample to be purged. The number of control points determines the frequency of each sample. In a scenario Typically, each station is displayed for 60 seconds and then drain for 10 seconds while the arm is sampling to the next location.
Benefits of real-time tracking of particles:
* Very efficient for monitoring the low detection limits
* Excellent for surveillance equipment and preventive maintenance
* Provide continuous detection of all particle events
Sequential Monitoring Benefits particle
* Reduced particle counters needed to cover a specific area
* Particle Counters easier maintenance through central location
* Collection of data between the particle counters do not need
