Where can I buy that pin that’s part of the mast extension on a windsurfer?

When you fit the mast extension into the mast, there’s the pin that you put into one of the set of holes to adjust the length of the mast extension (which I lost) and i want to buy another pin without having to spend a lot of money on a whole new mast extension.

Did some research for you, but without knowing who manufactures your mast extension it’s next to impossible. There are multiple manufacturers and multiple model numbers from each of those manufacturers. Your best bet is to find the make and model number yourself, then contact the manufacturer on line or by phone and request a replacement. They’ll probably either give it to you for free, for the cost of shipping or for a nominal charge. It’s just good business for them. If they give you a hard time they’ll lose any repeat business from you, and any business from anyone who ever asks you where to get a mast extension from.

As a technician in the field of broadcasting, part of my job requires up our television transmitting mast to check that the structure is OK, check that the cables are in good condition and to check for air leaks. The large hollow cables 150 mm diameter pressurized with dry air to keep them free of moisture. Sometimes we have to raise the antennas with a bottle of children blowing bubble liquid and a brush and paint mixture into the joints Cable and areas that could be torn or perforated. If there is an air leak, you can see the bubbles.

The top of the mast in my area is a mast 220 meters, conducting television, radio, mobile phone, telephone, radio, Internet links, car tracking, and transmission links digital. There is a ladder that the center of the mast, with rest platforms every 15 feet. The ladder is vertical, but has a cage around it, so I really do not may fall, only 15 meters from the platform. At the top of the mast is a spine, a long thin extension at the pole on which all TV broadcast antennas are mounted. You can get within this column pulling yourself with your arms: it is too close to her knees up to the interior. There are places where you can put your feet up. I once spent over 3 hours of this structure for an air leak. Not bad, and the view is spectacular, 220 meters. This is similar a 72-story building, except it is in the country, no other buildings in sight.

Climbing the mast is exhausting, and a mast of 200 feet making 30 to 40 minutes to get to the top. Always up with jackets, because even if it's hot on the floor, usually there's a pretty cool wind blowing on top. Often, as we ascend, clouds from the past between us and the ground, which is quite strange, you feel isolated from the earth. If there are clouds too much, or if it is wet, or if the wind is too strong, are not allowed to climb for safety reasons. Some types are up in the winds where a 12 inch key change has been plucked from the shelf where they were working.

The masts are made of solid steel legs 150mm in diameter and the mast is all based on a single in ballbearing background. This is so that the mast can rotate and bend with the wind but nothing off last minute. The mast is supported by steel ropes which are kind of stuck in blocks of 20 tons of concrete, half buried in the ground. There are four anchor blocks and a total of 4 groups of 4 strings anchor at 4 different heights. Special equipment, called riggers, trained to work on high structures, watch and fat from these strings type to prevent rust. They do this by being lifted the rope in a little wooden seat swing as a child seat with a big fat drum hanging from his side. When they are black from head to toe in this thick grease.

Some of our masts have red-winged starlings nesting in the air caps. These birds become very aggressive as we climb toward them, and dive bomb us and make a Dickens of a noise, which is not very nice when you're hanging around hundred meters above the place where you want to be! Not a few of our masts are located within game reserves in South Africa here, and they are often able to see the wild animals then without them knowing we're around. Eagles like to sit at the top of our mast, as it gives them a strategic place to detect the rabbits in the grass far below.

I've been doing this job for almost 30 years and do not rise as much as before, the young are doing most of the climb. I really do not like heights, but still enjoy the view!
