End Mar

Will we still be able to experience a good part of Glacier NP by going at the end of Mar. to early April?
I know the main road does not open until later in the season but was wondering if we would still be able enjoy or drive through some of the park. Or should we just wait until the summertime?
I would suggest waiting until the summertime. The end of March/early April in Glacier is still winter, and although snowy and beautiful, pretty much everything is shut down and closed. All the trails will be too snowy to hike. If you like snow shoes and cross country skis than you could see alot more during that time, but if you’re not interested in winter time recreation I wouldn’t advise going then.
The “main road” is the only one that goes across the park, and offers access to alot of the main sights, attractions, and spectacular vistas that the park is famous for. Yes, you can still do a little driving that time of year, but not much, and you can’t get to some of the best features in the park. Also, the surrounding communities and the visitor centers are all shut down that time of year. The exception is that some facilities on the west side of the park stay open. So yes, you can experience some of the park in the winter, but I think you would have a much better time and see alot more if you went in the summer months (mid-June through August).
