Can a VHF DSC Radio give out their position and other inof when polled from ashore?
I need to know whether it is possible to get information from DSC VHF radios for Vessel Traffic Purposes. Cana user ahore poll the DSc and find out about all the ships in the area?
No, you cannot automatically poll position information from other DSC users in the current system. A new system (backwards compatible with DSC) called Automatic Identification System may be capable of this.
The primary purpose of DSC was to provide a means for one marine VHF station to specifically contact another while keeping the speaker muted during other unrelated radio traffic. The positioning transmitting capability was added as part of an automated distress calling feature.

More resources for many open to sailors with the digital age. Firstly every sailor should have a boat unit Global Positioning System, GPS. One unit GPS is able to work to receive GPS satellite orbiting the earth, and at any given point in the sky there are at least four satellites. The unit takes the signals from three satellites and triangulates the position. Today most GPS units have an accuracy of 10-20 meters. A unit of GPS ship is essential and best of all are easy to use and simple.
Today, mariners also have a wide variety of music equipment TVs from boat to boat to choose. Get a waterproof TV would be more prudent. Clutter can be minimized by using wide wall mounts. With the advent of flat screen televisions, with a TV on board has never been so easy and efficient. There's nothing more relaxing as sailing, while listening to some good songs. href = "http://www.completesailor.com/tvstra.html"> boat stereos have advanced significantly in the last 10 years. With better and smaller waterproof design, upgrading to stereos today is definitely a good investment long term.
All progress in the today's technology benefits to serve as devices such as VHF radios. Transmission and reception is not all that VHF radios are limited Moden a. Some, in fact, have a call capacity level DSC. When connected to a horn Hailer, the more expensive models can act as a Hailer. Bluetooth Boat VHF radios are also compatible available. A digital distress signal can also pass the ship's position, which combines the power of GPS and VHF radios.
The sailors must have depth and speed instruments on board. Wireless capabilities have allowed even greater latitude when it comes to using the tools of depth and speed. Eliminating the error human, a simple digital screen view shows the values. In addition, many sailors opted for the acquisition of wind instruments too. Today there is progress making boat instruments easier to use, more secure, and intuitive.
Sailing with the best tools and technology of the modern world provides a safe trip. Where a sailor without the GPS unit to guide him or her? The first electronic a sailor to buy a GPS unit. Some sailors are reluctant to trust so easily in the electronics, preferring to sail the old-fashioned instruments and methods. Regardless of the preference to old ways and new, the benefits of modern electronics speak for themselves again and again.
