Dog Tracking?????????
My last dog I had was 3 and he was stolen right out my yard. He had a tracking collar but who ever took him left the collar right there. I was wondering if there was any kind of chip or simething I can put on my dog that isn’t visable, so I can track my new puppy if someone tries to steal him. If anyone has any links to sites that would be good too. Thx ^-^
You can’t track a dog, but you can put a microchip in them. It’s totally painless and is tiny, plus it takes about a minute to put in. By doing this if someone steals your dog and takes it to the vet, the vet will scan for a microchip and then it’ll come up with all your information so they can send the dog back to you. If your dog also gets out, most rescues are now scanning as well so they can call you that they have it.
I think they’re only $50 as well. I think it’s well worth it! A stray cat in our neighborhood hung around awhile, so we took him in, and then once we went to the vet, he scanned for one and he was sent back to his owners! It’s amazing at how handy these things are.
Good luck!

Say you go to the track a couple or a couple of times a week. Usually, meet some friends there and all have a good time, drinking coffee, sitting together, going over their programs and talk about dogs. It's a nice way to spend an afternoon or evening, but not the best form of disability greyhounds. This is one of the reasons why.
Usually the conversation goes something like this:
Jimmy: So what do you think of dog of the four in the first race?
Al: He's a fighter. He was in front and as soon as another dog approaches him, turns around and fights. I bet if he was the only dog in the race.
Bruce: I see no lines here, where the fights. Where do you see that?
To: I've seen him do a million times. The writer of hits simply do not write that way. Trust me, I know my dogs and this dog is a fighter.
So even if they have doubts about how well you know the dogs, everyone in that group now has some doubts about his own dog of the four. No matter the subject you want to go, there are always people who say they "know that the dogs' best writers of success or other bettors.
Some of these people even the use of their disability programs. Some of them do not even buy a program. They just see other people's programs for the names of the dogs and then tell you how was run in the past. They tell you to "follow the dog" and "track in their heads." It is likely that even believe that they do, but do not.
Dogs in and out of shape. Even the best dogs of change over the course of their careers. And the end result is that nobody – not even Einstein's first or Jimmy the Greek – could recall hundreds of stories of dogs and predict how they will run on any given race. It is impossible.
Not only that, we all remember things the way we want to remember them. We have a selective memory at best and when emotions are raw and our dogs are our hopes of winning on all the oval, our memory is not functioning at full capacity. If you bet on a dog that normally closes and does not close properly, we can notice and remember being cut by another dog, or we have the impression that simply did not shut down for no reason at all, and decide who is a deserter.
If we see a dog going around on laps in a sprint, we can call a great running back for the rest of his life, when in reality it was just wide in the race that one, because the dog beside him, a fighter, keep forcing them out. Or if you can only run around in short races and do not remember who wins, and for entertainment in a road race and we wonder why would not this time. We see what we see.
What we should look at a disadvantage when the dog races are the lines of the dog by his last six races. At least. I go back far beyond that with online data, especially if I'm on a track that has not been in a while. Miro the results of these "old" lines to get an idea if the dog goes in or out of shape, it is going to be happy with your box and if done well in this grade in the past.
I use facts and figures, not my own faulty memory and tell me if the dog has a chance to beat the competition today. No matter what he did three months ago, or – more importantly – what did I remember that three months ago. What matters is what always matters in the injury Greyhound. Class, consistency and Competition.
You will never succeed in winning at the dog track if you listen to people who do not watch the program. The greyhound handicappers know better spend at least a couple of hours reviewing your program only, before they join their friends on the track. And never let go good handicappers as someone else thinks. They have faith in his own trial because they know I've done everything we can to put things in their favor.
