I Have A Bearcat 5 Crystal Controlled scanner It Will Not Scan?
I Have A Bearcat 5 Crystal Controlled Scanner It Will Not Scan It Will Turn On The Light For Channel 1 Comes On But It Will Not Scan Can Anyone Help Me?
not necessarily, I have a bearcat (number unknown) crystal scanner and a newer digital scanner (year unknown), and sometimes I get as much or more from the crystal scanner…it seems that it picks up some stuff from the repeater…honest to god-picks up a better range…sometimes I get half of a convo from the new scanner and the other half from the crystal. It depends on how things are setup, I guess…I mostly listen to police/fire for the area, I don’t know how the system was constructed (it’s not the best, for an island 9 mi long and 1 wide you’d think we’d be on one freq)…but in any case…
recently I went to turn up the volume and wound up messing up a few switches (it’s on the floor near a couch)…couldn’t remember the order so I just left them all open…just make msure the unit is on scan and that the light is moving…the scan/lock switch is between vol and squelch on my unit and is easy to miss (lettering may be worn), flip it the other way, open all switches and see if it works…that’s the best I can do

On the police radio is much clearer back to 1930. The police sent through an AM radio station. Anyone W / radio can hear the calls. A radio system is full of frequencies. The frequencies are the channels of communication.
So that you are able to hear transmissions channel due to the scanner program. The initial rate of police scanners were crystal controlled w / about 4 channels. To listen to transmissions that would to get a quartz crystal tuned to the frequency and put into an internal slot. Each of these crystals is about $ 7 and become very costly to maintain.
Then in the 1970s police scanners were made which are programmable. It has a keyboard that will go into the frequencies and memory scanner to store all frequencies. After the trunked radio system has been introduced and that can save 5 to 30 frequencies or channels. A frequency controller is that consumers are automatically assigned. As emergency sections that have 1 truck or frequency would be some other frequency. These types are more difficult to check because you are changing channels in general, between conversations.
Today, digital scanners has trucks. It is a PC that programs from a transmission of voice data flows and the receiver will interpret it so that a voice was heard. They were introduced in 2002 for "unity" and then "2003" Radio Shack introduced its digital scanner. These are good to use because you could say things through the radio and can not be heard, but simply that can decrypt it, it will be several people. The only people who can decipher the codes are the ones who are officers of the channel.
Scanners Police are to have, because they are different from radio and television. You can sit in the garden and know where the police go and you know you will something that worries or anything that should not worry. Police scanners are purchased because a person belongs to the 1st section of emergency or simply for interest.
Usually, there are statements from a police scanner which was first reported before the television stations to take over the information. By example, was first informed of a police scanner with respect to any eddies that land or if the weather is too severe before news reports of the information. This information is transmitted from the National Weather Station and is fully worthy of confidence. These scanners can be entertaining as well as more information, because of all the ridiculous things people say on the air.
