can pokemon crystal work on a gameboy pocket?
i am buying my nephew a pokemon game for his birtnday and he only has a gameboy pocket and an original gameboy or would any of the later pokemon games work on them?
No, Pokemon Crystal is a Gameboy Color (GBC) game and require at least a Gameboy Color or newer such as the Gameboy Advance (GBA), GBA SP or GBA Micro to play.
The Gameboy Pocket is an original Gameboy which has a black and green LCD screen. It cannot play games for any of the newer consoles – unfortunately all of the Pokemon games require a GBC or GBA or DS to play. The original Gameboy is not supported.
Note that a DS or DS Lite cannot play the game either, it is not part of the direct Gameboy family (which ended with the GBA Micro) although it will play GBA games but not those earlier.
