The reliability of a vehicle is an important factor when buying a vehicle. Usually in India, people see car owners share their experiences in the vehicle. The cost of operation and repair is also carefully examined before concluding in the prospective car. However, the reliability is subjective to the conditions particular climatic and driving styles. This year, JD Power Asia released the finding of a study of vehicle dependability in 2009 in India. There were some revelations surprising.

JD Power measures the reliability of vehicles based on the number of complaints per 100 vehicles the same model. Vehicles must have completed 3 years on the road. It was surprising to find that Ford and Honda Motors was the highest in the reliability factor. While Ford vehicles reported fewer problems, Honda cars had the highest satisfaction in three of the nine categories of vehicles like the exterior design, experience driving and engine performance.

What was also surprising was that small cars have the most problems, and the fewest small is the vehicle is bigger. The vehicle with the lowest score is the highest rank. The study was conducted in 10 car segments in India.

In the small car segment, Maruti Suzuki led the list. Its Zen Maruti Suzuki 211 complaints reported per 100 vehicles was the least in the small car segment. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Alto, with 238 and 264, respectively problems. The average number of complaints was 334 per 100 units. Since The study was conducted in the previous fiscal year, not including Honda Jazz and Fiat Grande Punto. In addition, these vehicles are still to complete 3 years of service.

The entry-level sedan segment reported that Ford Ikon was the vehicle more reliable. It got as low as 228 problems per 100 vehicles, while others like Hyundai Getz reported 138 problems. A mid-size segment, Honda City reported as low as 155 problems and had barely 183 Ford Fiesta problems 100 vehicles. The average mid-size category reported 214 problems per hundred vehicles.

Toyota Corolla premium mid-size indicating the segment just 129 and Honda Civic problems reported only 167 problems. Chevrolet Optra did well with 199 problems per hundred vehicles.

The MUV / MPV (multi-utility vehicle / multi-purpose vehicle) segment was not smooth. Although Toyota Innova registered 182 problems reported 222 Chevrolet Tavera Mahindra Bolero problems and has 286 problems. This is on par with the small car segment.

It was followed by Honda CR-V with 125 problems and Tata Safari Dicor with 344 problems. Ford Endeavor is a testament to the best of engineering and design.
