What is the plastic red clip for that comes with a Springfield XD 40 kit?

I just bought a Springfield XD 40 subcompact and I cant find anything that tells me about the little red clip that comes with the gun kit.

I believe it’s an empty chamber “flag”

Stick the two pronged end into your chamber and the piece that runs perpendicular to that will stick out of the ejection port not allowing the gun into battery. It’s a fast visual indication that the weapon is safe.

What is included in a press kit? Why you need one to book a radio interview?
