What is the difference between a hosted VoIP product and a product VoIP SIP trunk?

I decided to put a poll in my website and at last count was split 50/50 as to who knows the difference. We have 500 small medium size hotels that offer telecommunications services, but I knew there had to be a form about a year ago to put them in a VoIP solution without having to replace every phone in the room with an IP phone. The costs would be astronomical So I went to work looking for the best program out there. I attended the Conference of channel partners in Washington, DC, and went from booth to booth in search of this product.

I explained that I wanted to use the properties of PBX systems, but take advantage of calling features and cost savings of VoIP.
