In case of dry skin problem, how to protect babies from cold through cotton instead of wool?

My baby has a dry skin and appears tiny bumps on forehead and mild red patches on cheeks. Doctor told that his skin is dry so therefore he suggested some precautions. In which he advised for cotton wearing instead of wool, archylic or nylon. Now winter has been arrived. I am worried that how could I protect my baby from cold through cotton wearings instead of wool. Can any one help me in this regard?

Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

Dry skin is a common skin and is often worse during the winter when the humidity is low. It can occur at any age and in people with or without skin problems. Some people have a genetic predisposition or inherited tendency to develop dry skin. Dry skin is most common in the legs, arms, flanks (sides the abdomen), and thighs. The genes also play a role. If relatives suffer from dry skin, is more likely to develop the disease. In extreme cases, fish-like peeling skin is sometimes seen (ichthyosis). Dry skin and scratching may cause dermatitis when the skin becomes red (inflamed), and dry and flaky.

An important aspect of treatment is to identify and address factors that can contribute to dry skin. In most cases, dry skin problems respond either self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. Use nondetergent, neutral pH products to cleanse your skin. Avoid using commercial soap. Avoid using strong soaps that dry the skin. At night, use a very creamy cleanser or oil. Remove the waste with a water spray mineral. Follow with a night cream that is applied at least half an hour before retiring. Do not use hot water when bathing or showering.
