Ladies, you don’t have to settle for gear that doesn’t fit right or look good! Almost every manufacturer is now making gear specifically designed for women. There is a variety of women’s PFDs that fit the shapes of your upper bodies, small shaft paddles that are easier to hold, helmets with funky designs, sport tank tops and other comfy underlayers in groovy colours. So shop around and have fun picking out your gear!

By buying gear designed for women you’re not only investing in yourself, but also in the future generations of girls and women who will enter the sport. Your buying power lets manufacturers know that there is a market for women’s gear and encourages companies to invest money in R & D for those products. Your dollars can go a long way in improving the sport for all women.

Since whitewater kayaks are designed mainly by men, they are made with a man’s body shape and performance potential in mind. For this reason, some female paddlers have a frustrating time in playboats that are not small and narrow enough for them to consistently perform tricks.

As the industry progresses, boat manufacturers are designing more boats in multiple sizes with women in mind, and you should now be able to find a suitable boat from most of the major companies. Each company makes boats that have their own unique shape and slightly different performance characteristics, so be sure to test drive as many as you can and don’t settle for a mediocre fit.

To help create a better fit for comfort and performance, try the following outfitting tips.

Raise your seat. Raising your seat will counteract the sizeable depth of the kayak and give you more leverage, which translates into more power. You can achieve this by placing foam under or on top of your seat. Choose the thickness of foam depending on your height and comfort level. Usually one or two inches of additional height will be enough. The higher you raise your seat, the more leverage you will have. Remember also that the higher you raise your seat, the more unstable you will feel! If you feel too tippy after you raise your seat, take some of the foam out to lower it a little. Trial and error is the best way to find the balance point between stability and leverage for you.

Move your seat forward. Most production kayaks come with the seat moved all the way back. It is important for women to move their seats forward so that their body weight is centred over middle of the boat. This aggressive position makes it much easier for women to sink the bow of the boat when performing tricks like the cartwheel. It will also make it easier for you to maintain or regain control of the boat, because less of your weight will be towards the stern. This isn’t just important for playboats, but also for river running kayaks because it will help your balance, stability and can keep the stern of your kayak from catching and flipping you over.

Be sure to have a strong, supportive back band. Having a good back band that keeps the body in a forward position is especially important for women, because they often find themselves being thrown backwards. Be sure that your back band is snug and supportive.

If your hips are uncomfortable and your feet are falling asleep a lot in your kayak be kind to your body and take out some of your hip padding. In general, women have fuller hips than men and that means that some of us don’t need a lot of hip padding, if any at all. That’s ok. You can still fit snugly in your kayak without a lot of hip padding.

Personally, I don’t use a lot of padding for my hips so I make sure that I have a lot of foot foam or move my bulkhead closer to my seat which helps my knees stay in place under the thigh braces. Your kayak should fit like a glove, but it should also be comfortable.

“Believe in yourself. Know that you can, and you will succeed!” (Ruth Gordon)

How to install and operate Undercover Tonneau Covers

Pre-Installation Notes:
1. Paint brush of the truck is not normally a problem with this cover! However, because Undercover tonneau covers lock the back door of the truck, the clearance is tighter on the back door to not allow someone an "idiot" the back door open when locked. Therefore, I recommend installing a standard protector rear door of his truck. Many truck owners Experienced install a sprayed-in bedliner that goes over the top of the back door. This is usually the preferred method of choice for many homeowners truck. However, a simple plastic, rubber, or thin chrome tailgate protector do the work! Paint brush of the sides is extremely rare. You almost have to Mount the cover intentionally "out of place" to rub the paint on the side rails. However, realizing that rub the paint is a possibility and sole responsibility of the owner of the truck. Thin, smooth plastic side rail covers can protect your side rails and the cover is mounted directly on the top of them. Materials such as 3M Scotch Cal or CabSkin protective films can be used to help prevent any possible paint damage as well. You can ask your dealer for specific recommendations about your truck.
2. Undercover Tonneau Covers are designed for trucks that do not incorporate a plastic rail above the sea bed. Trucks with bed liners will require some minor trimming of the line to ensure proper placement of the installation media.
UNDERCOVER Installation instructions:
• Step 1: Place the backplate against the pocket of truck involvement.
• Step 2: Use two of the holes in the backplate that are not obstructed by the inner side lip of your truck (there are three to choose). If possible, use the two holes that are farther from each other for a more secure fit.
• Step 3: Place screw with washer through the hole. Place aluminum bracket on the back of the stand behind the lips of the truck bed. Screw the bolt in the clamp being careful not to let the subject turn to while increasing (Please, keep your head straight (at the address above and below). Make sure the bracket is held down tightly against truck rail and in the correct position before tightening!
• Step 4: Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the rear bracket side.
• Step 5: In the instruction, front support position accordingly along the inside of the side rail nearest the front corner of the bed of the truck. This bracket is held on the inside lane of the front corner of the truck (where they have a place to suppress). This stand is designed to sit on the top rail of the truck to provide with a location to mount the front cover (for the front cover you can rely). Using pre-drilled holes in the front support (which are customized for his truck), install the clamps in the same way he did in the rear brackets (making sure the screws are VERY tight !!!). This position is a good point start, but you may have to make some minor adjustments in the supporting hardware due to slight variations in the beds of trucks from one to another.
• Step 6: Repeat step 5 for the front support otherwise.
• Step 7: Place in the Tonneau truck positioning female hinges Tonneau Cover on the ears of the media Opposite. (Tangs are basically a small lump of metal that she fits the hinge). These surgeons are the parts that protrude over the front rail and provide a surface to which the deck is the hinge on. One of the female hinge installed on the ear on each side, about to install split rings to ensure that coverage is secure and does not move forward. These split rings are very similar to the design of a ring or a shower ring (of course it is industrial quality and strength) and will be closed. These division rings designed to hold the lid in place until the cover must be removed. These rings are designed to be very secure when closed, but are also designed for easy removal when ready to remove the cover! CAUTION: Be sure to install BEFORE INSTALLING SPLIT RINGS The hydraulic props! The props are pressured women from the hinge / Tang mechanism and wants to ensure that the cover is securely anchored before install the props!
• Step 8: Install hydraulic dampers ensure that the long end of the strut is attached to the hood, and the small end joins the patella in the backplate! Basically you slip the hole of the smaller end of the strut in the kneecap and it snaps into place and is held in place by the pre-installed retention clip.
• Step 9: Make sure the front flap seal hangs over the end (or the leading edge of the bed of the truck pick-up). This flap over provides resistance to weathering at the front edge of the lid. Make sure this rubber flap is not folded or rolled under the hood installation. If flap seal is rolled under the tonneau, simply open the hood and from the inside, just use a pattern or something similar to simply push the flap seal out form under the barrel and the front edge of the truck (closing).
• Step 10: Closure of barrel and check the length of the truck. There should be a ¼ gap between the tailgate and the rear overlapping edge of the hood. If this is not correct, adjust by moving the front brackets front or backward to achieve the correct clearance here. Front brackets may also have to be adjusted slightly to the Plaza of the hood on some truck beds!
• Step 11: Adjust lock strikes. When set correctly, you should be able to turn the key to the locked position without having to push down on the hood. There should be only a very small amount of play between the locking cam and lock strike. A good rule of thumb is to adjust the block that have about a 1 / 8 gap between the cam and lock strike with the truck tailgate! This usually gives the proper setting once the tailgate is closed!
The elimination Cover Instructions: Quick and Easy
• STEP 1: Open Tonneau and with a small screwdriver (or equivalent), gently start to clip retention in hydraulic lifting strut about 1 / 8. Then with the palm of pop (gently strike) the prop to remove the mainstay of the patella. COMPELETLY NOT REMOVE THE fastening clip! The celebration of the tonneau cover with one hand, place the loose end of the props in the prop storage clip (mounted below deck) with his other hand. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.
• Step 2: Remove Split rings of spikes on the front forks. , Make sure you complete step 1 before REMOVING SPLIT rings.
• STEP 3: Tonneau is ready to eliminate
Re-Installation instructions cover:
• STEP 1: Tonneau Place in the truck, positioning depends on pin female awning on the front forks and install split rings in the holes in the male pin on the front forks. Again, be sure to install SPLIT ATACHING rings before underpinnings GAS IN STEP 2!
• STEP 2: Lift tonneau with one hand and the palm the hand of the other hand, firmly push the mainstay of the patella clamp back. There is no need to boot the retaining clip when re-installing the hydraulic props.
• Step 3: Make sure the front flap seal hangs over the closure of the truck and not roll under the hood installation. This flap offers more additional weather resistance at the front edge of the lid. Make sure this rubber flap is not folded or rolled under the hood of your installation. If the seal flap under the hood is rolled up, simply open the hood and from the inside, just use a pattern or something similar to simply push the flap seal out form under the barrel and the front edge of the truck bed (closing).
