Choosing a CB radio

The most important to understand when choosing a radio is that all CBs, regardless of price, are limited to 4 watts of transmission power by the FCC. This means that $ 50 bare-bones CB radio and CB radio $ 200 chrome plated with all the features imaginable will have exactly the same transmission power. While a radio can be "peaked and tuned", a process that increases the performance of CB's, CB radios all have the same power Transmission of the box.

What differentiates mainly CB radios from each other is their features, their strength not to leave. CB radios come with a number characteristics, the most popular of the one described below:

• Squelch Control – This control adjusts the break-point at which a CB radio emits a signal. It constantly keeps the operator from having to listen to static and only activates the speaker when a transmission is received. This is a standard feature and is included with the CB radio almost all sold.

• Instant Channel 9 & 19 – The ability to quickly jump to two of the most popular channels: Channel 9 (Emergency) and Channel 19 (Highway / Truckers).
• Nightwatch and / or Backlit Displays – A number of more expensive models include a backlit screen for operation of radio convenient night. This is a valuable feature if a radio is widely used at night or in dark conditions. ?
