I have a uhf-vhf antenna with an amplifier. the converter box says I have no signal, I’m 50 mi. away, !?

Do I have to get a certain type of antenna, or do I need a different converter box

Having a VHF/UHF antenna is good. I’m not too sure about the amplifier at the moment, though. At least make sure that the amplifier’s power supply is working. Check for splitters in the line that may be blocking the power from getting to the amplifier. I assume you had the box scan to discover channels, too.
