Alert Radio

I’m looking at purchasing a NOAA weather / emergency alert radio and can’t decide which to get, help!?

I’ve been looking at midland, first alert, radio shack and others and can’t seem to make my mind up, wanted to survey folks who are more familiar with the issue than I am.
As to the Midland WX 100, I’ve heard that it’s only partially SAME capable due to not being able to determine what types of warnings / watches you want to be alerted of?

First consider a NOAA Weather Radio that has Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME). This will allow you to select the counties that you want to hear weather watches/warnings for. Ones that do not have SAME will activate for any watch/warning in the local NWS warning area.

I have found the the Midland WR-100 is an excellent radio. I’ve recommended it to several individuals and businesses. You can purchase the radio at Wal-Mart for around $30. I’m sure there are other stores you can purchase the radio as well.
